Freestyle is the competition floor style — fast footwork, sharp kicks and lines, high energy, and every dancer performing their own routine rather than a group one. If you have watched a dance championship on television, freestyle is most of what you saw.
It is also the discipline Star-Struck is best known for locally, and the one behind most of the trophies in the cabinet.

What the class actually teaches
The technical content is more demanding than it looks from the side of the floor. Freestyle is built on specific kicks, spins, leg lines and footwork patterns that have to be drilled to be reliable at speed, and a good routine is judged on precision and musicality as much as on energy.
Classes work through that syllabus week by week, then apply it: dancers build their own routine, refine it, and perform it. That shift — from copying a teacher to owning a piece of choreography — is the part that changes how a child carries themselves.
The competition pathway, if you want it
Freestyle feeds our competition teams at junior, intermediate and senior level, which are entered by audition. From there the calendar runs through regional opens up to national championships and finals.
None of that is compulsory. A significant number of our freestyle dancers never compete and come purely for the class, and the register does not treat them as second tier. If your child wants the medals, the route exists; if they want a Wednesday evening they enjoy, that is the same class.
Starting from nothing
Freestyle takes complete beginners from age five. No audition, no experience, no kit for a first session. The teachers running it have competed at championship level themselves, which mostly shows up as knowing exactly which small correction will unlock a step a child has been fighting for weeks.
